This year 25 Proms will be televised across the BBC along with live concerts every day on Radio 3 and some performance also broadcast on Radio 2 and 6 Music.
Jess Gillam, who was the star of the 2018 Last Night at the Proms, will join the presenting line-up for this year alongside Katie Derham, Suzy Klein and Tom Service.
The BBC Proms always kicks off with First Night at the Proms and this year Katie will be presenting the incredible opening performances on BBC Two and BBC Four.
Speaking ahead of the BBC Proms, Katie enthused: “I’m looking forward to being at the heart of the festival, and continuing to provide a thoroughly enjoyable window onto the BBC Proms.”
What time does the First Night at the Proms start tonight?
First Night at the Proms starts tonight (Friday, July 19) on BBC Two at 7.30pm.
The first half will be broadcast on BBC Two while the second half will be shown on BBC Four.
Fans of the BBC Proms can expect to see the world premiere of Zosha di Castri’s Long Is The Journey – Short Is The Memory, which was a BBC commission.
There will also be a performance of Dvorak’s The Golden Spinning Wheel and Janacek’s Glagolitic Mass.
BBC Singers, BBC Symphony Chorus and BBC Symphony Orchestra will perform under conductor Karina Canellakis.

The First Night at the Proms will be available to catch up on BBC iPlayer.
Fans can also watch the First Night at the Proms on bbc.co.uk/proms and can listen via the BBC Sounds app.
The First Night at the Proms will be available for 30 days after it is broadcast on BBC Two and BBC Four.
Some of First Night at the Proms may also be aired on the highlights show Proms Encore, which will be broadcast on Saturday evenings on BBC Two throughout Proms season.

The 25 Proms including First and Last Night will be shown across BBC channels and feature performances from the BBC Philharmonic, the John Wilson Orchestra.
There will also be broadcasts of The Sound of Space: Sci-Fi Film Music and Mississippi Goddam: A Homage to Nina Simone.
First Night at the Proms airs tonight on BBC Two from 7.30pm.
