Antiques Roadshow: Guest stunned over valuation
A guest on Antiques Roadshow melted hearts when she refused to sell her late mum’s 21st birthday present, a stunning Japanese vintage frame.
The frame, adorned with unique shells and scattered with iridescent mother-of-pearl, was passed down to her as a family heirloom.
The owner explained that her dad had bought the piece for her mum at the end of World War II.
Despite knowing it could be worth a lot, she insisted she wouldn’t part with it.

Expert Gordon Foster revealed that the 1880s frame was decorated with real gold flakes and estimated its value at £2,000 to £3,000.
The guest was taken aback by the value of her mother’s birthday gift, but she insisted she would never sell it due to its sentimental worth.
Viewers were moved by the segment and took to Twitter to express their admiration for the woman.

One viewer tweeted: “Antiques Roadshow has me feeling a little emotional after that lady said she wouldn’t sell her mam’s birthday present. How could you part ways with that in fairness.”
Another posted: “Awh, that lady with the frame is so lovely. Good on her for not selling her mother’s frame even though it’s worth so much,”
A third chimed in: “Lovely to see there are still people who feel things are worth keeping and not flogging for money.”
