Andi Peters stepped in to take over from Lorraine Kelly for a few weeks on the self-titled show, as the host took her summer break. Viewers usually see him presenting the ITV competitions on both Lorraine and Good Morning Britain. But, it seems the ITV star could be taking a huge step back from the channel altogether and heading over to BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing after Paddy Power teased the move.
With Strictly Come Dancing 2020 on the horizon, and set to return this September, Paddy Power has revealed Andi’s chance of signing up.
The bookmakers currently have Andi with odds of 20/1 to join the show, and as viewers know, GMB and BBC stars have always had the viewers backing when they step onto the dance floor.
He wouldn’t be the first presenter from those shows to take part as GMB host Susanna Reid took part back in 2013.
She came second with professional dancer Kevin Clifton, and Kate Garraway took part in the BBC reality show back in 2007 with Anton Du Beke.
Andi is much loved by the public, with lots of them taking to Twitter this week to ask him to continue presenting, but how would he fare on the dancefloor?
With just another week to go in the presenting seat, it seems Andi might not want to leave either.
“It’s great they have asked me to do it [present Lorraine]. I’m chuffed,” he said.
“It’s a real break from tradition and it’s a great statement from the channel about getting more black faces on television in lead roles as opposed to supporting roles, which is really important and we mustn’t shy away from that fact,” Andi explained in a recent interview.
So how does it feel to front one of ITV’s most popular daytime shows?
“I love Lorraine, I’ve known her for ten years, I’m on her show every day and it’s great to be part of that family.
“So, sitting in for her is an honour, Lorraine is an institution.” the star added.
But, it seems it might not just be Andi joining the Strictly line-up later this year.

“Of all the GMB hosts, we think Adil Ray is the one that has the potential to be most-loved by the public if he decides to get his dance on in Strictly.” A Paddy Power spokesperson told Express.co.uk exclusively.
Who will the viewers have their money on though? Would Andi continue his role at ITV whilst learning the charleston? … Fans know he probably would.
As for who else is tipped to get a spray tan on a Saturday night, GMB’s rival BBC Breakfast presenter Louise Minchin hinted on the show the other day that she would need some help with some of the dances if she were to take part this year.
It came after the news that Strictly bosses were scrapping some important bonding sessions between celebrities and their professional dancers.
As a way of keeping the contestants safe, Strictly bosses have reportedly scrapped the “chemistry circle”, which has always been used to see who is most compatible to dance together.
BBC sports reporter Sally Nugent also has very high odds of taking part this year.
Love Island star Maura Higgins could also be taking part, after her role in Dancing on Ice earlier this year and even Jamie Laing, who had to pull out at the last minute in 2019.
And maybe even GMB and Tipping Point host Ben Shephard, despite him revealing his wife had banned him from ever taking part.
What we do know is that Andi has a performance background, and if he took part in Strictly, he would well and truly throw himself into it.
Express.co.uk has contacted ITV and Andi Peters representation for comment.
Strictly Come Dancing is set to return later this year to BBC One and Good Morning Britain airs on ITV weekdays at 6am followed by Lorraine at 9am.
