Brittany Banks invited her Jordanian boyfriend, Yazan Abo Horaira, to move to the United States on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way. And after seeing him agree so quickly, some fans wondered if it was all a setup.
On ’90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way,’ Yazan revealed his life was in danger
Earlier this season, on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, viewers saw Brittany and Yazan try to navigate his conservative Arab culture. When Yazan’s parents discovered Brittany’s revealing social media photos, they reprimanded her and demanded she converts to Islam and gives up her lifestyle.
But Brittany refused to change herself. And while she was in America sorting out her divorce, Yazan’s father kicked him out of the house and family business.
One of Yazan’s relatives soon spread a rumor that Brittany was a “‘porn” actor. This infuriated Yazan’s father even more. And on camera, he threatened to murder Yazan.
In one of the season’s final episodes, Yazan explained that his family would gather the Sheiks of his tribe and decide his fate. He revealed he would be disowned by the tribe or possibly killed.
Brittany suggests Yazan move to the United States
Brittany had hoped she could move to Jordan and live with Yazan there. But after learning about his family issues, the 90 Day Fiancé star realized it would no longer be safe there for either of them. So, she suggested Yazan move to the United States with her and noted she’d apply for him to come on a K-1 visa.
“I just don’t think Jordan is the best place for either one of us, in that case,” Brittany told Yazan. “I know we talked about, like, before I moved here, the possibility of you moving to America, and I was really against it. But, you know, now after learning everything, I think it’s best for us to go there.”
“I never thought about going there,” he replied. “I don’t know the place, I hope to be here in Jordan. But if you want to go, I’m thinking, I want to be with you.”
’90 Day Fiancé’ fans react to Brittany and Yazan’s K-1 plan
All season, Brittany has been talking about her move to Jordan. So when she asked Yazan to move to the U.S., some fans were left confused. A few wondered why she hadn’t thought of that before. And others suggested that this whole drama about Yazan’s life being in danger was a ploy to go to America and stay on the show.
“I think it’s a plot to get Yazan into the country by applying for asylum,” one Redditor suggested. “There’s video footage of his father vowing to kill him due to his love for an American. Asylum Yazan, here we come.”
“Totally a big game,” another Reddit user wrote. “Why was she ‘against’ moving Yazan to America In the first place? It doesn’t add up in the least!”
But others were not as skeptical. “I don’t think that Yazan was doing the show for clout,” one fan suggested on Reddit. “I think that he cared about her.”
Another viewer suggested that because Brittany and Yazan had to pay for her apartment and plane tickets from their own pockets, it wouldn’t make sense for this to be a setup. “It cost a few thousand dollars just for her to “think” about wanting to marry him,” the Redditor wrote. “Doubt it and I really hope not because that’s a trashy thing to do.”
Fans will get to see how things panned out for Brittany and Yazan when 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way returns with its reunion special. New episodes air Sundays on TLC.
