Now, the TLC star, 36, has broken her silence his passing to People magazine, revealing her late husband has now become her “guardian angel”.
She told the outlet: “I am devastated to share the news of my husband’s passing. He was my best friend and I loved him dearly.
“When I met Caleb he became my guardian angel and now he really is watching over me. Our families appreciate everyone’s sympathy and ask that you respect our privacy at this time.”
TLC also added: “We are deeply saddened to learn of Caleb Willingham’s passing. Our condolences go out to Tammy, his family and friends at this difficult time.”
It is understood the happy couple first met back in 2022 at a rehabilitation facility in the heart of Ohio where they underwent treatment to tackle their obesity.
And it appears as though it was love at first sight for the pair after they tied the knot on the show just months later.
Just weeks after the pair made things official, Slaton told People magazine: "Our wedding day was perfect, there was so much love in the room. I literally married my best friend."
In May, The Sun reported that the newlyweds had separated because Caleb was struggling to follow his diet.
Shortly after the news made the headlines, Caleb’s famous friends and loyal fans rushed to social media to share their touching tributes online.
1000-lb sisters star Amanda Halterman posted on Facebook: "Please whisper a prayer for our family and all of Caleb's family. Caleb Willingham is sitting at the feet of Jesus. Heaven got a good one!
"I didn't get to spend a lot of time with him but the messages he would send helped me through so many dark times.
"I am so thankful for the love he showed my sister and all those he came in contact with."
Caleb's younger brother also shared a touching tribute as support from loyal fans poured in.
He wrote: "I can't believe I'm even making this post, but today GOD called my big brother home.
"R.I.P Caleb Willingham aka Killa K aka Double K aka one half of the dynamic WWF tag team champions The T Boys [cry-laughing emoji] aka my biggest supporter in anything I do.
"You will be forever loved and missed. Until we meet again [blue heart emoji. muscle emoji]."
