YERRY MINA won't be leaving Merseyside to head back to Spain anytime soon, as Barcelona's buy-back clause cannot be triggered until 2020.

The La Liga champions sold the centre-back to Everton this summer with a caveat that they could bring him back to the Nou Camp if they believe he's worth it, but the Toffees will have his services for at least two years.

The Colombian centre-back made the Spanish champions a tidy profit when they let him go to Everton.

They paid just £10m to take the 23-year-old from Brazilian side Palmeiras in January and then sold him for £28.5m to the Merseyside outfit six months later.

Clearly believing he has a future at the Catalan club, Barcelona's £53m buy-back clause ensures that they have first-refusal on the defender if he impresses at Goodison Park.

Should Barca trigger the clause next summer then the Colombian would have been a good bit of business as Everton would also double their money.

Mina is likely to get the game-time he craves for Everton, as he was behind first-choice centre-back pairing Gerard Pique and Samuel Umtiti for Barcelona.

England fans will no doubt remember his performance during the World Cup.

The Colombian inflicted misery on the Three Lions when he netted the equaliser during the dramatic round of 16 clash.

He also reportedly struggled to fit into his new surroundings in Spain, but seemed excited about joining Marco Silva's side.

Upon joining Everton, Mina said: "I have watched the Premier League for a long time. It is the best league in the world. This is a great opportunity for me and I am looking forward to competing here."

Mina was one of seven signings for the Toffees this summer, but he has yet to make an appearance for them.
