IT'S Derby day at Epsom on Saturday – and Templegate is here with his placepot picks to bag you big bucks for small bets.

Here, he picks out who he thinks will place in each of the first six races in Tote's biggest bet offering.

The Placepot is a bet where you select a horse to be placed in the FIRST SIX races of any meeting.

You can pick more than one horse in a race – you just multiply the number of selections in each race to calculate your stake.

This Saturday's Epsom Placepot is a cool minimum £250,000 in the pot!

Plus, don't forget if you're a new customer to the Tote, you will receive £20 in free bets, just for signing up and staking £5!*

Epsom Derby day Placepot picks

LEG 1: HIGHLAND AVENUE can land a long overdue win. He was used to make the pace for Adayar at Newmarket last time but kept going for third in a contest that was hotter than this.

Dropping back in drop isn’t a problem and he goes on any ground.

LEG 2: SPREWELL showed a sharp turn of pace when winning the Leopardstown Derby Trial and his running style suggests he’ll have no problem with Epsom’s famous camber.

He should improve for this step up in distance and his high-class trainer Jessica Harrington doesn’t tilt at windmills. He looks the pick of the Irish challenge and can go close at a fair price.

MILITARY ORDER won the Lingfield Derby Trial nicely on the all-weather but has a couple of turf wins too. His full brother Adayar won this in 2021 and he looks a similar type who stays.

He is certain to improve and trainer Charlie Appleby has a superb record at the highest level. Major player.

LEG 3: PROSPEROUS VOYAGE didn’t enjoy the testing ground when midfield on comeback at Newmarket so hopefully it really will be on the fast side of good here.

She won the Group 1 Falmouth last season over a very similar trip and will be fitter today.

LEG 4: GRACE ANGEL found a new gear when scooting in at Redcar last time and she can strike again. A 6lb rise in the weights looks fair enough.

ESTATE got on top right on the line at Salisbury and should be suited by these conditions. He has Oisin Murphy on board today which is a bonus.

LEG 5: LIVE IN THE MOMENT just failed to last home when grabbed on the line at Doncaster last time. He blasted off from the front there and will find it easier to pull off those tactics over this distance at a largely downhill track.

ANCIENT TIMES caught the eye when fourth after a break at Newmarket 14 days ago.

LEG 6: TORITO can take a major step forward on this handicap debut. He won at Nottingham in the mud in April before a better run when second at Sandown last time. There was a good gap back to the third and his opening mark of 95 could well prove to be lenient.

BALANCE PLAY has had three runs before going up in distance for this first run in a handicap. He is bred for this trip and showed plenty when second at Salisbury last time.
