IT is one of the worst feelings in the world as a footballer.
You think you have scored the equaliser against one of the giants in your country – only for them to run up the other end and all-but guarantee defeat.
Slaven Belupo were in need of sympathy on Saturday as Croatian First Football League's bottom side began to celebrate levelling the game up with 15 minutes to go.
But in a bad case of luck, the ball had not actually gone in, and Hajduk Split players sprinted up the other end to score.
The hosts' goalkeeper rolled the ball out, hoping for a quick break from his teammates – only to find Slaven's Nemanja Glavcic waiting to attempt an audacious chip.
In footage on Twitter, the Hajduk keeper scrambled back crashing into the goal netting, and the visitors thought the ball had too as they celebrated what would have been an equaliser.
But it instead struck the post, with the Split hosts going on the charge.
Realising their opponents were too busy congratulating each other, with the Slovan goalkeeper even rushing to the manager's dugout, Hajduk were left with the goal wide open and Josip Juranovic was not going to miss.
It added to Jairo de Macdeo da Silva's opener which sends Split to the top of the table with a two-point lead over defending champions Dinamo Zagreb.
Meanwhile, it was a ninth defeat this season for Slaven as they remain rock bottom.
