NEWCASTLE fans unveiled a banner at Manchester City expressing their gratitude to co-owner Amanda Staveley.

The banner features a young-looking Staveley alongside the words "Until Amanda I was never happy".

It also featured artwork taken from The Stone Roses album by the Manchester rock band.

And the words also took inspiration from The Stone Roses song Sally Cinnamon, which begins "Until Sally I was never happy."

Newcastle fans are certainly happy now after flying up the table since the arrival of Staveley, Eddie Howe and the Saudis.

A £90million spending spree in January has upgraded the squad with Bruno Guimaraes quickly becoming a fan favourite at the club.

Since the takeover Newcastle have climbed up to 13th in the league – having sat 19th and winless under Steve Bruce and Mike Ashley.

Now the Magpies are sixth in the form table over the last six matches and have won five of their last six home games – the only defeat was to high flying Liverpool.

Wins are becoming more consistent and there is a real team spirit at the club now – Staveley and her co-owners often pose for post-match photographs with the rest of the squad and coaching staff.

Exciting is mounting for next season with Newcastle likely to strengthen in the summer having already been linked with moves for Jesse Lingard and Wilfred Zaha.

Toon are even plotting a shock move for former Sunderland star Jordan Pickford and the goalkeeper will reportedly push for a move if Everton are relegated.

The Saudi money could also fund moves for RB Leipzig hotshot Christopher Nkunku, who is wanted by Manchester United, and AC Milan's Rafael Leao.

Reports suggest Newcastle could quadruple Leao's wages to ensure they beat Arsenal to his signature.
