TAMMY ABRAHAM will be hoping he can make good on the challenge to target Harry Kane's England spot with the 22-year-old already more prolific than his international teammate was at the same age.
The Chelsea striker has enjoyed a stunning start to the season that has seen him just one behind Leicester City's Jamie Vardy in the Premier League scoring charts.
And his impressive domestic form has meant Abraham has more goals than both Manchester United duo Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial at the same stage in their careers.
The Blues star has already notched 69 goals in his burgeoning club career, with critics likely to point towards his stats being slightly skewered by his time in the Championship.
Abraham was Bristol City's top scorer with the 26 strikes he hit during a season-long stint at Ashton Gate in 2016/17.
He then had a less fruitful time at Swansea in the Premier League where he only managed 8 goals, but a return to England's second division with Aston Villa saw him hit 26 to help guide them back to the top-flight.
Similarly, Three Lions skipper Kane also enjoyed his breakthrough season at age 22, where he struck 31 of the 52 goals he had netted at that age.
The 26-year-old had only converted five efforts for Spurs prior to that 2014/15 campaign, with similar returns yielded in loan spells at Leyton Orient, Millwall, and Leicester.
Abraham's stats are also more favourable than five-time Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo, who had celebrated 47 times in both Sporting Lisbon and United colours.
In the Portuguese superstar's defence, he had yet to be converted from a hugely-skilful winger to the relentless goalscoring machine that recently reached a landmark 600 career goals.
Club goals scored by the age of 22
- Sergio Aguero: 107 (Independiente/ Atletico Madrid)
- Romelu Lukaku: 94 (Anderlecht/ West Brom/ Everton)
- Wayne Rooney: 97 (Everton/ Manchester United)
- Lionel Messi: 92 (Barcelona)
- Karim Benzema: 78 (Lyon/ Real Madrid)
- Luis Suarez: 72 (Nacional/ Groningen/ Ajax)
- Robert Lewandowski: 70 (Znicz Pruszkow/ Lech Poznan/ Borussia Dortmund)
- Higuain: 64 (River Plate/ Real Madrid)
Although Abraham has since proven his credentials at the top level this season, he still has a long way to go to reach the dazzling heights of Sergio Aguero.
The Manchester City star scored a staggering 107 goals by the time he was 22-years-old that saw him become one of the world's most sought-after strikers at Atletico Madrid.
Kylian Mbappe seems set to rip up all records by the time he hits that benchmark, with the 20-year-old wonder kid already five shy of a century of club goals.
