CHARLIE APPLEBY knows that training isn't a smooth process.

But Appleby admits getting Group One winner Charming Thought back on track has been particularly challenging.

Charming Thought hasn't been seen since winning the 2014 Middle Park Stakes but will make his comeback in the Cathedral Stakes at Salisbury on Sunday.

Appleby said: "Charming Thought has been declared for Sunday and the plan is to go there. It has been more than 600 days since his last run and it has been a challenge with him.

"Every time we went forward with him, we met with another setback since the original setback, which was the chip in his knee.

"He is a horse that still, we feel, is showing us the talents he did as a two-year-old and we are just looking forward to getting him on track.

"Whatever he does on Sunday, he will come forward for it and obviously after that we will regroup and assess where we go."

The Richard Fahey-trained Don't Touch will bid to return to winning ways after he tasted defeat for the first time on his last start.

And in a race where a number are trying to get back on track, Charlie Hills' Strath Burn will attempt to get back to winning ways.

Other notable entries include last year's winner Absolutely So, Burnt Sugar, Kingsgate Native and Naadirr.
