RYAN GIGGS admitted Gareth Bale showed signs of rustiness from his Real Madrid woe on Saturday.
The Wales superstar did not feature in the last three matches of his domestic season after being sidelined by Zinedine Zidane.
It has left his future at the Bernabeu in serious doubt – and the big money signing of Eden Hazard last week has not helped him.
Giggs felt Bale's lack of match action affected him early on in the 2-1 defeat at Croatia on Saturday.
But he improved as the game wore on and the Dragons boss is praying his star man will be back to his best for the clash with Hungary tonight.
He said: "Saturday was his first game in six weeks but we had great build up in Portugal and a great week at coliers park.
"Gareth grew into the game and that might be from not playing for six weeks, it’s understandable.
"I was happy with his performance and on another day he scores one or maybe two but hopefully he is saving it for Tuesday.
"I think generally we were more effective in the second half – everyone was.
"It's sometimes the case when they are in the lead and we get more of the ball. But I was happy with Gareth's performance."
