BLUE POINT (13-8f) became the first horse since Choisir in 2003 to complete the King's Stand/Diamond Jubilee double – but only just.
James Doyle's mount clung on from the fast-finishing Dream Of Dreams (12-1) in a thrilling end to the Group 1 contest.
Always in a prominent position behind runaway leader Kachy, Doyle pressed the button on Charlie Appleby's five-year-old entering the final furlong and immediately went into a clear lead.
But with fifty yards to go, man-of-the-moment Danny Tudhope conjured a whirlwind run from Dream For Dreams, the pair flying through runners at a rate of knots.
The judge had to be called, but in the end the margin of victory was enough to crown Blue Point the winner.
Dream Of Dreams ran a cracker in second, with Kachy (33-1) holding on well in third.
Winning jockey James Doyle said: "Well that was pretty special.
"He gave me a wonderful feeling. I said to Charlie before the King's Stand he's one of the fastest I've ridden.
"Kachy went a hell of a pace and all he wanted to do was chase him down. I've never met a horse as tough as this.
"We didn't got that quick on Tuesday but this was a different story.
"He's a real star and has certainly stamped his stallion credentials now. Only two horses have ever done the double before."
The winner is now a general 7-2 for the July Cup.
