A'ALI (5-1) landed a number of big punts as he scorched past his rivals to win the Norfolk Stakes.
Frankie Dettori struck for the third time so far this meeting on the lightning-fast two-year-old.
Before the race all the talk had been about Sunday Sovereign (13-8f), but he had no answers to the finishing kick of A'Ali, who went one place better than his debut for trainer Simon Crisford.
Stalking a blistering pace, Frankie Dettori held his mount up just behind the jolly before producing him with a potent turn of foot as they entered the final furlong.
The race was all over in a matter of strides, though Richard Fahey's Ventura Rebel (16-1) threatened to make it interesting, flying from the clouds to grab second.
Dubai Station (14-1) boxed on for third in a race where few got into it.
The winner was the first maiden to triumph in twenty-nine years.
A delighted Dettori said: "He was travelling so well and did everything like a professional.
"He idled a little bit in front but what a good way to start.
"I'm pleased for my good mate Simon, having worked with him for years at Godolphin.
"He's a good sprinter and I expect he'll have to back it up at Goodwood."
