ROMA have been praised for naming and shaming a vile racist after he sent "disgusting" comments to defender Juan Jesus on Instagram.
The club have issued a statement revealing they have handed him a lifetime ban and contacted the police over the incident.
Roma took to social media to publicly oust the man known as "pomatinho" by uploading a snippet of his Instagram page.
They also shared the comments directed at Jesus which says he "looks better in a zoo" and calling him a "damn ape."
Jesus is a 28-year-old Brazilian centre-back who joined Roma from Inter Milan in 2016.
Alongside the grabs, Roma wrote: "The owner of the below Instagram account sent Juan Jesus disgusting racist abuse via direct message today.
"We have reported the account to the Italian police.
"We have reported the account to Instagram.
"The person responsible will be banned from #ASRoma games for life."
Followers of Roma on social media have been quick to praise the club, particularly following further shameful scenes of racism across Serie A in recent weeks.
One person said: "Finally a club doing the right things. Good work."
Another added: "The rest of the clubs in your country should follow suit. Very classy."
Roma then fired a message towards Serie A by writing: "Are you really serious about tackling racism in Italian football, @SerieA?
"It's time for zero tolerance."
Italian football has been plagued with incidences in recent years including this season when Romelu Lukaku was subjected to monkey chants from Cagliari supporters.
Cagliari were cleared of racist chanting because reports claimed there wasn't enough evidence for any sanctions.
Italian TV pundit Luciano Passirini was also axed earlier this month following a racist remark made towards Lukaku.
