Michael van Gerwen clashed with a reporter after his World Darts Championship semi-final victory against Dimitri van den Bergh.
There was a confrontation between Dutchman and the Belgian mid-match which was believed to be over encroachment. Van Gerwen could be seen with his foot in the red exclusion zone that an opponent is not supposed to enter while a player is throwing.
Van den Bergh then exchanged words with him at the oche. But when asked about the incident post-match, Van Gerwen denied it was about encroaching – citing a different dispute and taking aim at a journalist.

He said: "No that is not true. He (Van den Bergh) said I was stamping. You were listening to the commentary too much, that is why you said that.
"You said he was accusing me of staying in the exclusion zone but that is not true. So, if you want to ask me something get your facts right."

Van Gerwen then offered a sarcastic response after he was asked by the same reporter if he had been stamping on purpose. "Oh yeah, I was stamping big time. I was trying to do it on purpose to put him off," he quipped.
The world No. 3 was just as brutal against Van den Bergh as he was to the reporter. He blitzed the final four clash 6-0, averaging a massive 108.28.
Van Gerwen now has a shot at his fourth world title in what will be a repeat of the 2019 final against Michael Smith, who saw off Gabriel Clemens 6-2.
He won 7-3 four years ago and the pair will battle for the Sid Waddell Trophy again at Ally Pally tonight (January 3).
