SOUTHAMPTON boss Ralph Hasenhuttl is favourite to be the next Premier League manager relieved of his duties.

However, there's been a rush of bets placed on Aston Villa's Steven Gerrard to be the FIFTH managerial departure of the 2022-23 campaign.

Scott Parker, Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter and Bruno Lage have all left their positions.

And Betfair were confident that Hasenhuttl would be next following their fourth consecutive Premier League defeat at Manchester City.

The Austrian was offered at 3/10 following their 4-0 defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad over the weekend.

The result left Southampton in 16th position with seven points having won two, drawn once and lost six of their first nine matches.

But he's now shortened considerably to 5/4 with odds on Gerrard taking a massive nosedive over the last 24 hours.

The Liverpudlian's side drew 1-1 with previously rock-bottom Nottingham Forest on Monday, mustering two efforts own target.

Villa are 16th in the division with nine points having won two, drawn three and lost four of their opening nine matches.

Next manager to leave their role (5th)

Gerrard, who was appointed Villa boss in November 2021, has seen his side win just one of their past 10 away Premier League matches and they are winless in six on the road.

Leicester's Brendan Rodgers is next at 7/2.

There's a surprise inclusion in Jurgen Klopp next, who's seen his odds heavily reduced following their 3-2 defeat to Arsenal.

The Liverpool boss is now 22/1, the same as Steve Cooper, having been priced at 66/1 heading into the weekend's fixture.

Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said: "After Liverpool’s latest setback coming in the form of a 3-2 defeat to Arsenal, odds on Jurgen Klopp to be the next Premier League boss to lose their job have been slashed to 22/1 from 66/1.
