NEWCASTLE are set to sign former Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius on a free transfer.
The Magpies signed England international Nick Pope, 30, this summer for £10million from Burnley.
It paved the way for Martin Dubravka, 33, to join Manchester United on loan with Karl Darlow providing backup to Pope.
But Darlow, 31, suffered a recent ankle injury in training, leaving Newcastle scrambling for a No2.
According to Sky Sports, they have turned to Karius, who is a free agent.
The German is now due to undergo a medical ahead of short-term move.

Karius, 29, joined Liverpool from Mainz in 2016 but after two years Brazilian Alisson, also 29, was signed as new Anfield No1.
The former German youth international suffered inconstant form, including in Liverpool's 2018 Champions League final loss to Real Madrid.
It effectively cost his career at Liverpool as loan moves to Besiktas and Union Berlin followed.
Karius left Liverpool this summer when his contract expired, leaving him without a club.
