AARON RAMSEY is more than capable of filling Claudio Marchisio's shoes at Juventus – says the man himself!
The Welshman joined Juve from Arsenal on a free transfer in the summer but is on wages of around £400,000 a week.
Marchisio wore the No8 shirt for over a decade, making almost 400 appearances for the Old Lady.
And the midfielder believes former Arsenal star Ramsey can carry on his fantastic work at the heart of the team – and the Welshman has so far scored once in his three starts.
Speaking to Daily Mail, Marchisio said his number was now: "In the best hands".
"Ramsey is a fantastic player," he added.
"The No8 is such a beautiful number that it had to end up on someone's back.
"My preferences were either Ramsey or an academy player who moved up to the first team."
After leaving Zenit Saint-Petersburg and announcing his retirement, Marchisio says he hasn't "ruled out anything" for his post-playing career.
One thing he didn't tick off was a move to England, which the Italian feels was never on the cards.
That is despite interest from the likes of Manchester United, City and Chelsea.
He added: "It cannot be said that I was close to any English team, but there was interest from the Manchester teams and Chelsea.
"But Juventus has always been my priority, so real negotiations were never started."
