MANCHESTER UNITED fans were so delirious with their side's thrashing of Chelsea they even cheered sacked former boss Jose Mourinho.

Two goals from Marcus Rashford and further strikes from Anthony Martial and Dan James saw United thump the Blues 4-0 at Old Trafford.

Just before substitute James rounded off the scoring on his debut, the Stretford End started to sing "Jose Mourinho".

The rest of the ground then applauded that effort, before they were on their feet to salute Welsh wonderkid James.

The chants then became "Ole, Ole, Ole" in honour of their current boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Mourinho was sacked from his role at United in December, with his team selections and tactics criticised by many fans during his tenure.

MOURINHO'S A PUNDIT

His style of football was also questioned and accused of not being in the "United style".

Mourinho was at Old Trafford as he made his first appearance for Sky since agreeing to be a pundit for the season.

And he will have been impressed with what he saw of the last club he managed as they dismantled another one of his former clubs with ease.

Rashford struck twice as Manchester United opened their Premier League account with a resounding victory over Frank Lampard's Chelsea.

It was an awful start for the new Chelsea boss in his first competitive game on the bench for his old club who struck the woodwork twice in the first half but paid for their defensive frailties as Anthony Martial and Dan James also scored.

The win was United's biggest over Chelsea in a top-flight match since the same scoreline in March 1965 under Matt Busby.
