Joe Douglas spread the love in his debut NFL Draft as the Jets GM. He went out and drafted eight different positions with nine picks. On the latest episode of the “Gang’s All Here” podcast with Brian Costello, we dive into what Douglas did in the draft.
We go through each pick and what role they might have moving forward. Can Denzel Mims step in and be an immediate impact receiver? Will Ashytn Davis see time as a rookie as a backup safety and as a nickel corner? Was Bryce Hall a steal in the 5th round if he’s fully recovered from his ankle injury? Will La’Mical Perine be Le’Veon Bell’s backup running back? Can James Morgan be Sam Darnold’s backup QB in his rookie year?
We also look at the virtual draft being a success, getting families involved and making coaches more human. Coz and I look ahead to football season and if the media even will be at games or not. We also examine where the Patriots stand after a weird draft for them not picking a QB. Are the Bills the standalone team in the AFC East?
We then play clips from Mims, Perine and Morgan after they spoke to the media on getting picked by the Jets.
NY Post sports columnist Mike Vaccaro then drops by the show to discuss Douglas’ draft strategy, the Jets picking lots of team captains and the future of the Patriots.
We will have one more episode coming this week as the Season 1 finale show. It will feature a very special guest.
