LEGIA WARSAW claimed their third consecutive Polish Championship after being awarded a 3-0 walkover win against Lech Poznan following fan trouble.

The match was forced to be abandoned by referee Daniel Stefanski in the 77th minute after Lech supporters threw flares and invaded the pitch with their club trailing 2-0.

Goals from Domgoj Antolic and Michal Kucharczyk put Dean Klafuric's side two goals up, with the latter's strike leading to several dozen Lech fans running on the pitch.

Around 200 riot police officers were required to chase supporters away in scenes that looked like a war zone, as the game was called off by the ref.

The Polish Ekstraklasa league commission granted Warsaw the walkover win, with Poznan stating they will not appeal the decision.

A statement from the Ekstraklasa said: "As a result of this decision Legia has 70 points and has secured the title of the Polish champions. Lech Poznan has 60 points and the third place on the podium."

While Lech spokesperson Lukasz Borowicz told news outlet PAP that Ivan Durdevic's side were expecting severe consequences.

He said: "We are not the only stadium where flares have been brought into and interrupted the match. It is too early today to estimate the losses."
