And Jose Mourinho must surely be ruing the day he convinced Roman Abramovich to hijack Daniel Levy’s bid all those years ago after Willian orchestrated a 2-0 win for Chelsea at Tottenham's new stadium.
The Brazilian had completed a medical at White Hart Lane and was on the verge of a £25million switch from Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala.
But with Mourinho also keen on signing the Brazilian, Chelsea owner Abramovich stepped in with an improved offer to complete a shock deal at the death.
The rest is history, with Willian going on to win two Premier League titles, one FA Cup and last season’s Europa League – while Spurs’ trophy cabinet continues to gather dust.
However, nothing lasts forever, and former Chelsea favourite Mourinho now finds himself in the dug-out of their fierce rivals.
The Special One had overseen four wins in Spurs’ last five league matches before today.
