JOHN KAVANAGH has joked about Conor McGregor's timekeeping – after he showed up for last night's press conference on time for once.
UFC media and fans have usually had to wait for the Dubliner for long periods at press events as he continuously showed little concern for arriving on schedule.
However, this time many fans on social media couldn't hide their shock at his improved timekeeping ahead of his fight with Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone.
One said: "I’ve covered a lot of Conor McGregor press conferences and this is literally the first time he’s been been on time."
Another wrote: "A Conor McGregor press conference that starts on time!?!??!?! He 100% is a different guy."
One said: "Conor McGregor is actually on time for a press conference… maybe he's actually a changed man after all."
While another made a prediction off it: "A peaceful Conor Mcgregor on fight week is a dangerous man. Every time he is 'zen' on fight week we get an insane performance."
DON'T BET ON IT
His coach John Kavanagh joked at this changed characteristic in his fighter on Twitter.
Kavanagh wrote: "Hope none of yous bet on us being late?? ?"
This more respectful bit of behaviour does chime with the message McGregor has been putting out in in his pre-fight interviews.
He reflected on how prior to his last fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov, he was 'disrespectful' and 'lacked commitment'.
He said: “That last camp was horrendous and I have no one to blame but myself and I did blame myself and made the corrections.
“Thankfully I have a strong team behind me that are pushing me and guiding me the right way and I’m guiding myself that’s the main thing.
“Fighting is always close to my mind now, and I know I’ve got many businesses that are thriving at the minute but fighting is my bread and butter and that is what I’m focusing on."
He added: “That [loss] was after a horrendous camp where I was so disrespectful to the people that believe in me, disrespectful to my team with my lack of commitment."Conor McGregor speaks of his excitement ahead of UFC 246 return
