ANDY ROBERTSON reckons Liverpool were made to look “foolish” against Napoli as their pre-season woes continued on Sunday.

The Reds were seen off 3-0 by Carlo Ancelotti’s Italian side with Lorenzo Insigne, Arkadiusz Milik and Amin Younes all scoring at Murrayfield.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are now winless in their last four friendlies — a 2-2 draw against Sporting Lisbon and losses to Sevilla (2-1) and Borussia Dortmund (3-2) adding more misery.

And Scottish full-back Robertson has warned his team-mates to improve or risk further damage in their Community Shield clash with rivals and Premier League champions Manchester City on Sunday.

He said: “It wasn’t good enough. We were miles off it. We were outplayed. At times we looked foolish by not pressing as a team.

“And we need to look at it and improve as our season starts in a week and it doesn’t get any harder than Man City.
“We need to be a hell of a lot better than this.

“Jordan Henderson and James Milner pulled us in for a huddle on the pitch and what was said cannot be repeated until after 9pm. It’s not crisis meetings, it’s pre-season.

“But we can’t get into a habit of losing or drawing. We need to step it up massively.”

Dutch midfielder Gini Wijnaldum added: “Today we were not 100 per cent concentrated. We didn’t play as a team and made too many mistakes.

“It’s important to keep confident and keep going. It’s painful but we have to learn and strike back.”

Liverpool have one final friendly against Lyon in Switzerland’s Stade de Geneve on Wednesday before they come up against Pep Guardiola’s City at Wembley on Sunday.

The one bright spark for Klopp will be the cameo appearance of new-signing Harvey Elliott after joining less than 12 hours before kick-off.

The former Fulham winger, 16, was brought on with 11 minutes remaining and enjoyed several promising spells on the ball to excite the Kop fans.

Speaking before the game, Elliott said: “To have joined the club that I supported as a boy is a dream come true for me and all of my family.

“I’ll work as hard as I possibly can for the club and I feel Anfield is the perfect place for me to develop and progress.

“I can’t wait to get started and it will be a truly special feeling to pull the famous red jersey on.”
