CARDIFF are the leading contenders to sign Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale.
That's according to bookmakers Betfair, who've priced the Championship side at 7/4 to clinch the Welshman's signature.

Bale's future is under the microscope.
The 31-year-old still has 12 months remaining on his contract at the Bernabeu.
But he's NOT thought to be part of manager Carlo Ancelotti's plans going forward.
The La Liga heavyweights are prepared to offload Bale and his reported £600,000-a-week wages to finance other signings.
But where will the player be playing next season?
Betfair believe a move to hometown club Cardiff is the most likely scenario, according to the latest betting odds.

However, any stunning move to the Bluebirds would likely require Bale to slash his wages by over 90% – and that's why he's priced at 2/1 to serve the remainder of his Real Madrid contract.
Tottenham are the closest challengers at 2/1.
Bale enjoyed a profitable loan spell in North London when scoring 16 goals and providing three assists in 34 appearances.
However, Bale’s agent Jonathan Barnett has reiterated that Spurs do not have an option to re-sign him for a second season.
Barnett said: "As I have said from the beginning, there is no option. Gareth has no agreements whatsoever. He is under contract to Real."
A move Stateside to Any MLS Club is available at 10s with a move over to China a fraction behind at 11/1.
Manchester United are priced at 14/1 while Inter Milan, Everton and Arsenal are all locked together at 20/1.
