Queen of the Palace Fallon Sherrock will take her first bite of the Big Apple next week – and has vowed it will be a giant hot dog with all the works.
The first lady of arrows is preparing to follow in Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier and Frank Sinatra's footsteps in the Professional Darts Corporation's World Series by performing at New York's iconic Madison Square Garden.
Sherrock, 27, has never been to the United States before, and she has been forced to wait two years to rock the city that never sleeps because the tournament was twice postponed because of restrictions during the Covid-19 pandemic.
But the former Milton Keynes hairdresser, who shot to fame at the PDC World Championship at Alexandra Palace in December 2019, wants to prove she is still worth a billboard in Times Square. Sherrock will be going toe-to-toe on the oche in a field containing big guns Michael van Gerwen, Peter Wright and Gerwyn Price – but first she wants to sample Manhattan's famous rocket fuel.
Sherrock said: “I’ve never been to New York – the only place I’ve been to beyond Europe is Asia. I just want to go to McDonald’s and buy a hot dog from a hot dog stand, like the ones I’ve seen in the movies. I want to see the big statue (of Liberty) and stuff like that because I don’t know whether I’ll ever get the chance to go again.
“I think it is still important to show I have that game in me and to show it on that big stage. They are all going by what I did a few years back but I played well in the Grand Slam and the Worlds last year but I didn’t get over that line. I can’t get distracted, I need to put my game face on and pick up a few wins.”

Sherrock provided more glimpses of her exciting potential to upset the Big Applecart when she reached the final of the Nordic Darts Masters last year, coming back from 8-2 down to beat Dimitri van den Bergh 11-10 in the last four before giving MVG a scare in the final. And her run to the Grand Slam of Darts quarter-finals, where Wright had to pull out the stops to win 16-13, was sprinkled with stunning finishes and brinkmanship.”
But a new rival in the women's game has announced herself – 18-year-old Beau Greaves, the Lakeside ladies world champion – and Sherrock knows she needs to rock New York. She said: “It’s always nice to have competition, it always gears you up. It was always Lisa (Ashton) and now Beau’s done really well. If you drew her in a tournament, you’d have to play your A game. She’s always been that standard but no one got to see it that much. Now she’s been back to Lakeside and won that, it’s a great achievement.”
