F1 star Daniel Ricciardo was involved in a high-speed crash during practice at the Styrian Grand Prix.

The Australian ploughed into barriers at the Austrian track before limping away from the wreckage and heading straight to the medical centre.

Footage shows the driver take a right turn at high speed before he lost control of the car at the Red Bull Ring.

The vehicle skidded of the track, turned 180 degrees and slammed into the tyre barrier with smoke and debris flying up off the wheels.

Renault tweeted an update on their driver and confirmed he is ok.

It read: "Update on Daniel: After that impact, he went to the medical centre for a check up.

"Medical delegate has declared him fit. #RSspirit #AustrianGP."

An eyewitness also tweeted: "Ricciardo is limping a little bit, and his car is an absolute mess.

"That was a big hit. Given the weather forecast, that could prove massively costly in more ways than one #F1 #AustrianGP."

Fans were quick to send messages of support online.

One wrote: "Hope he is ok."

Another added: "God so worried."

And when news emerged from Renault he had been confirmed fit, F1 supporters shared their relief at the news.
