DELE ALLI'S Everton future is up in the air due to a special clause in the deal that took him to Goodison Park.

The midfielder spent the year on loan at Besiktas before injury curtailed his season.

Everton boss Sean Dyche is now deciding what to do with the former England international, who struggled to hit form in Turkey.

He has reportedly held talks with Alli and he believes the midfielder is keen to play and to get back to his best.

But Everton could decide to sell due to a clause in the deal the Toffees made with Tottenham when they signed the 26-year-old.

According to The Times, Everton agreed to pay Spurs £10million if Alli made 20 appearances for the club.

It is not clear whether that clause is time sensitive but if it is, Alli would have to make just seven more appearances to activate it.

That may lead the club to sell or loan out Alli once again, as £10m would present a significant outlay given Everton's financial issues.

But his signing would also present a gamble for other clubs given his less-than-successful spell at Besiktas.

Alli was banished from the squad by manager Senol Gumes and made just 17 appearances for the club, scoringthree goals.

Besiktas president Ahmet Nur Cebi stated Alli did not live up to expectations and suggested there was no chance he would sign him again.

While Everton star Alex Iwobi revealed Alli failed to make the grade on Merseyside because "he isn't a training player" – something that will not endear him to Dyche.
