CHELSEA could seal a deal to sign Ivan Toney before the end of the transfer window.
Premier League clubs have until 11pm on Friday to conclude their summer business.
Toney is currently serving an eight-month ban for breaching the FA's betting rules.
The Brentford striker cannot return to action until January 17 as he sees out his punishment.
However, Chelsea could still complete his signing this week, according to The Independent.
Mauricio Pochettino is understood to want a forward who can play across the attack, with Toney seen as matching this profile.

The report adds that their is an increasing feeling a deal can be done before the deadline, despite Brentford setting an £80million asking price.
Toney has scored 32 goals in 66 Premier League appearances for the Bees since their promotion in 2021.
Chelsea could also move for Brennan Johnson ahead of Friday's deadline.
Tottenham and Brentford have also been linked with the Nottingham Forest forward.
