BENJAMIN MENDY reinforced his status as the king of banter at Manchester City by trolling Kevin De Bruyne.

The Belgian playmaker posted a picture of himself throwing his young child like a basketball across a swimming pool.

The snap, captioned "throwing my kid like a basketball because we miss the NBA season" drew the attention of left-back Mendy.

He retweeted the image, hilariously joking: "Poor Zinchenko."

City pair De Bruyne and Oleksandr Zinchenko have become subject to a club joke that they are mirror images of each other.

The doppelgangers even posed with the FA Cup together to prove just how similar they really are.

Mendy has a reputation on social media for showing off his playful side, and plenty of fans got it on the gag.

One Twitter user, David, wrote that it reminded him of a popular album cover: "Three seconds later we have the pic of Nevermind from Nirvana."

Meanwhile, Hammad posted: "When your kid doesn't wish you a happy Father's Day."

Another tweeter, Rohit, joked: "Same Kev, I kicked my kid like a football because we miss the Premier League."

De Bruyne's post came after Toronto Raptors won their first NBA title with a 4-2 finals win over Golden State Warriors.

The new basketball season doesn't start until October but the City midfielder can at least look forward to the upcoming Premier League campaign.

Liverpool take on the champions in the Community Shield on August 4 before their league schedule kicks off at West Ham six days later.
