ARSENAL won the league the last time Liverpool started a season with eight wins and one draw.
Now Gunners fans are joking it could happen again after Jurgen Klopp's side drew 1-1 at Old Trafford yesterday.
Reds boss Klopp was left absolutely furious after VAR ruled Divock Origi was not fouled in the build-up to Marcus Rashford's opener.
And he had more trouble with the officials after Sadio Mane's goal was ruled out for handball.
Bad things tend to come in threes and now it appears this could be Arsenal's season after all.
At least according to optimistic Gooners and some coincidental statistics.
One Reddit user discovered that Liverpool started the 1990-91 season by winning their first eight games and drawing the ninth on October 20.
The exact same sequence has happened this year following yesterday's result.
Arsenal under George Graham won the first division title in 1991 after losing just one game all season – a 2-1 loss at Chelsea in February.
Alan Smith was their top scorer with 22 goals in the top flight.
Arsenal, who play Sheffield United tonight, currently sit fifth in the table, two points behind fourth-placed Chelsea and TEN behind Liverpool.
But some Arsenal fans are joking the unlikely could happen.
One wrote: "Scenes if Xhaka captains us to our first Premier League in 15 years."
Another said: "This settles it, then!"
A fellow user commented: "Scenes when Liverpool do go unbeaten but we somehow pip them to the title."
One comment read: "This is the sort of stat I live for."
And another wrote: "You guys may be joking but I have a feeling we will win the league this year."
Liverpool are looking to end a 30-year wait to win the top flight.
