ARSENAL target Donyell Malen left the Gunners to get more first-team football – and not because he was too fat.
The Gunners are reportedly considering a stunning £50million move for the 20-year-old Dutch striker, after selling him for just £500,000.
Arsenal flogged the hitman to PSV Eindhoven in August 2017 because the player wanted more minutes on the pitch.
How they may now regret that decision.
Malen has scored 10 goals in 13 appearances this season, including a five-goal haul in the win over Vitesse earlier this month.
He also marked his senior international debut with a goal in Netherlands' 4-2 Euros qualifier win over Germany.
Liverpool are monitoring Malen's progress too – but a return to Arsenal could be on the cards.
Malen recently opened about leaving Arsenal.
He said: "That I was sent away from Arsenal is certainly not true.
"I still had a contract for a year and Arsenal even wanted to extend that.
"I don't play football for the money. I never did that. Otherwise I would not have left England.
"There are stories that I was not fit when I came to Arsenal.
"But I have never been too fat, that really is a nonsense story."
And talking about who he learned the most from, Malen said: "It may sound silly, but I may have learned the most from the young boys such as Reiss Nelson.
"They were used to a completely different kind of football, really that English style.
"Thierry Henry was an assistant coach with the Under-18s.
"If he participated in the rondo you immediately saw the man could play. And he gave tips that really made sense.
"You tried it and felt: hey, this works."
