ALVARO MORATA has reportedly put his £3.5million Madrid home up for sale after armed robbers broke into his house while his family were inside.
The burglars stormed the 26-year-old's property on Friday while he was on international duty in the Faroe Islands as Spain ran out 4-1 winners in the Euro 2020 qualifier.
Morata's wife Alice Campello and his twin sons Alessandro and Leonardo were inside the property along with the caretaker and housekeeper when armed robbers forced their way in.
It is believed that they entered via an upstairs window before stealing a number of valuable items including watches and jewellery.
Campello has revealed she has been left "upset and afraid" by the incident in a statement released on Instagram, with Europa Press claiming the house has now been put on the market.
She said: "I'm still upset and I think I'll be afraid for a long time to come. I think this is one of those things that are not easily forgotten, one of those things that makes you realise how much love and life is worth.
"Knowing that you have your children at home and thinking they can touch them or do something to them is really inexplicable.
"Fortunately we are all well and could have been much worse. They have stolen so many memories but it's gone.
"Now I will try not to think about it and think about our family and try to forget."
Morata – currently on loan at Atletico Madrid from Chelsea – has stated the most important thing is that no one was hurt during the harrowing incident.
He said: "It's a scare, I want to thank all the people who have worried, at the service of the police and of all the means that have been put at our disposal.
"They are things that can happen, now to put more security measures and now we are on vacation so to enjoy them.
"Everything they have been able to take is secondary when there is health in between, that's it, it's over, chapter closed and I hope they do not do it any more."
Il mio buongiorno questa mattina ❤️
