Blake Snell was rolling. Rays manager Kevin Cash took him out. Disaster followed.

Snell, who was mowing down the Dodgers in Game 6 of the World Series on Tuesday night, was taken out in the sixth inning and Tampa Bay leading 1-0, despite the fact he threw just 73 pitches.

The Rays left-hander was not pleased, dropping an F-bomb as Cash gave him the hook. His anger turned out to be justified.

With Austin Barnes on first and one out, the Rays manager replaced Snell with hard-throwing right-hander Nick Anderson, who promptly gave up a double to Mookie Betts. Then with Corey Seager at the plate, Anderson uncorked a wild pitch allowing Barnes to score and tie the game at 1-1. Seager then grounded to first for a fielder’s choice as Betts beat the throw home for a 2-1 Dodgers lead.

Anderson almost gave up a homer to Justin Turner in the next at-bat before being replaced by left-hander Aaron Loup, who got out of the inning without further damage.

Snell wasn’t the only one who thought Cash’s early hook was ill-advised.

Alex Rodriguez, who is working on the Fox pre and postgame shows, gave a harsh assessment of the decision on Twitter.

“Computers running the game,” Rodriguez tweeted. “Not humans. Binders lead to blinders. Manage with blinders on, you miss what’s actually happening in real time.”

If the Rays don’t come back to win Game 6, Tampa Bay fans will remember this decision forever.
