MANCHESTER UNITED were lucky to escape South Yorkshire with a point after a dramatic 3-3 draw against the Blades.
Sheffield United led the game 2-0 before a comeback inspired by three of United's youth products, with Mason Greenwood, Brandon Williams and Marcus Rashford all on the score sheet.
But if they hope to bolster their squad with Bruno Fernandes, they might have to up their offer after the Portuguese star signed a new contract at Sporting Lisbon.

MANCHESTER UNITED target Jadon Sancho was sensationally dropped for Borussia Dortmund's Champions League trip to Barcelona.
And incredibly his manager Lucien Favre hinted the Engand winger – also eyed by Liverpool and Chelsea- was “not fully focused” for the game.
It comes as transfer speculation mounts that Sancho could move in January, with Barcelona themselves rumoured to be interested.
The Spanish clubs are among a host of Europe's biggest clubs chasing the former Manchester City youth player.
PREMIER LEAGUE sides Manchester United, Tottenham and Liverpool are in a race to sign 17-year-old Peterborough United starlet Ricky-Jade Jones.
The Mail report that Peterborough academy graduate Jones has caught the eye of scouts after scoring on both his full debut against Cambridge and on his first FA Cup appearance against Stevenage this month.
Striker Jones was handed his League One debut last Saturday by manager Darren Ferguson with representatives from Tottenham, Manchester United, Southampton and Burnley all in attendance.
At the beginning of the month Ferguson said: “It is just the start, but he has a desire to work hard and that is vitally important.
“He has real quality, is a big lad, has unbelievable pace and is the quickest player that I have worked with.
“I am looking forward to helping him develop.”
Leicester, Arsenal and Manchester City are also thought to be keeping tabs on Peterborough's speedy striker.
MANCHESTER UNITED No2 Mike Phelan has won the Talon d'Or for own goals on social media.
Fans swooped with criticism of United's wideman options after Phelan tweeted a photo of himself holding a bird of prey beneath the words: “Found a flying winger”.
Old Trafford supporters quickly got in a flap, with Brazil midfielder Andreas Pereira a popular target.
Only a few fans 'owled with laughter, while others demanded demanded: “Find a flying centre-back next” and “Great. Now find a sitting midfielder”.
Other comments included: “Sums up our scouting network” – and many supporters asked if the bird could play on the right wing.
Hawkish opponents of United's owners also waded in, preying for changes at the top with messages like: “See if you can make the debt fly away Mike glazersout.”
BRUNO FERNANDES is reportedly still available – despite signing a new deal with Sporting Lisbon.
He had been on the radar of both Man Utd and Tottenham since last summer so it was assumed his new contract would have ended the rumours.
But, Sporting are believed to be in financial difficulty and could still be forced to cash in on the 25-year-old.
Fernandes has put pen to paper on an extension until June 2023, with his release clause has been bumped up from £65million to £85m.
According to Portuguese newspaper Record, Sporting may still be willing to sell for £60m.
Fernandes scored 32 goals last season and has nine goals to his name already this campaign.
