THE transfer window is drawing ever closer and a number of teams will be looking to make sweeping changes to their squads.

Chelsea will hope to make up for lost time if their ban is overturned, while underachievers Tottenham and Man Utd will also be keen to dip into the market.

• EX-BAYERN MUNICH boss Ottmar Hitzfeld does not think Arsenal target Thomas Muller will leave the Bundesliga side in January.

  He told Goal: “Thomas Muller at another club is hard to imagine for me. He is an absolute identification figure for Bayern.

  “He has played there since he was small and has matured into a world-class player, has won many titles.

  “But in the end it is his decision if he wants to do something else. You have to respect that.”

• Former Real Madrid midfielder Alvaro Medran has signed for Chicago Fire.

  Aged 25, the Spaniard was most recently seen on loan at Rayo Vallecano while under contract at Valencia.

• SPURS are reportedly battling Man Utd for the signing of Brighton flop Mathias Normann.

  According to Goal, the two Premier League sides are eyeing up a swoop for the Norwegian midfielder.

  Normann is currently plying his trade at FC Rostov in Russia, with the player valued at around £20million.

• DAVID PLATT is trying to buy Bristol Rovers as part of a consortium, according to reports.

  The League One club's owners are already in talks with a UK-based group who want to relocate the stadium to the city's fruit market.

  And former Arsenal and England midfielder Platt is working with English businessman Clive Richardson to form a rival bid, claims the Bristol Post.

  Their report adds that discussions are in an early stage, with the group yet to meet with chairman Wael Al Qadi.
