NICOLAS PEPE is expected to wear the number 19 shirt at Arsenal.
Having worn the number for Lille and during the recent African Cup of Nations, the Ivorian is expected to choose the same for his time at the Gunners.
Most importantly, the shirt is vacant after Bernd Leno switched to the number one shirt following Petr Cech's retirement from football.
ARSENAL will NOT be selling Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to fund their £72m purchase of Nicolas Pepe.
The Gabonese international has been linked with a move to Manchester United, but the Gunners are under no pressure to sell despite speculation that they had just £40m to spend this summer.
Journalist David Ornstein said: “[Pepe] Tracks back, works hard, which Unai Emery will like.
“He can also operate in a two-man strike-force if needed in a 4-4-2 formation.
“It’s a pretty mouthwatering prospect that he will play in the same team as Aubameyang, Lacazette, potentially [Mesut] Ozil and others.
“I’m told that this will not mean a significant departure.
“The likes of Aubameyang, Lacazette, will not be leaving Arsenal this summer to help finance this deal.”
Earlier today, Arsenal managing director Vinai Venkatesham reassured fans that the club had significant funds to spend.
He said: “I don’t recognise this £40m figure, I have read it a lot. That doesn’t come from us, that doesn’t come from the club. The numbers never come from us.”
NAPOLI indicate they will fail to sign Nicolas Pepe, giving Arsenal further hope of signing the Ivorian.
According to Italian radio station Radio Kiss Kiss, Carlo Ancelotti has already chosen PSV's Hirving Lozano as an alternative to Pepe.
This in itself indicates the Italian side are not hugely confident of signing the Lille winger.
With Arsenal reportedly having already agreed a fee for the player, the Gunners will now consider themselves the front-runners to secure the signing of the 24-year-old.
