Some of Hollywood’s biggest stars are mourning the loss of Tina Turner after she died at the age of 83.

The tragic news was announced on Turner’s official Instagram account Wednesday.

“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tina Turner,” the statement, which accompanied a black and white image of the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll, read. “With her music and her boundless passion for life, she enchanted millions of fans around the world and inspired the stars of tomorrow.

“Today we say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us all her greatest work: her music. All our heartfelt compassion goes out to her family.”

The statement concluded, “Tina, we will miss you dearly.”


Following the news, stars took to social media to send their condolences.

Singer Ciara kicked things off, writing via Twitter, “Heaven has gained an angel. Rest in Paradise Tina Turner. Thank you for the inspiration you gave us all.”

Actress Holly Robinson Peete tweeted, “💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔 A life to celebrate… Rest In Peace Queen Tina Turner 🙏🏾🕊️.”

Piers Morgan also sounded off, tweeting, “RIP Tina Turner. Simply, the best.”

NBA legend Magic Johnson also mourned her loss via social media, writing, “Rest in peace to one of my favorite artists of all time, the legendary queen of rock n’ [sic] roll Tina Turner. I’ve seen her many many times and hands down, she gave one of the best live shows I’ve ever seen. She always gave you your moneys [sic] worth.”

In a follow-up tweet, the former Lakers star added, “Tina would have so much energy during her performances and was a true entertainer. She created the blueprint for other great entertainers like Janet Jackson and Beyoncé and her legacy will continue on through all high-energy performing artists. Cookie and I are praying for her husband and all of her friends and family.”

Former CNN host Don Lemond shared on Twitter, “Damn. She was supposed to live forever. ‘Simply The Best.’ #TinaTurner #RIP.”

City Girls rapper JT also commented on social media, “I’m not gone [sic] lie, Tina turner passing touches my heart! Ever since her biopic I felt I knew her. Such a strong woman with a story that taught & inspired so many❤️.”
