Princess Diana became known as the “People’s Princess” when she married Prince Charles, but their romance wasn’t as real as it seemed. The two had a very rocky relationship that eventually lead to an affair and a divorce. Despite a tough marriage, they did have two amazing sons, Prince William and Prince Harry. Diana and Charles’ marriage wasn’t what everyone thought it was

When Diana and Charles first wed, people were amazed at her radiating beauty and the love they appeared to have for each other. However, what the public didn’t realize was that there was never any true love between them. Charles had always wanted to end up with Camilla Parker Bowles, but when she married another man while he was away in the Navy, he had to rethink his plan. Almost 30, Charles settled for Diana, who was only 19, despite never truly wanting to marry her. But they did welcome two young boys during their marriage who have grown to become the most well-liked royals.

Diana’s two sons helped her through everything with the divorce

While Charles and Diana made frequent appearances together, their relationship was dwindling. And eventually, Charles rekindled his romance with Camilla in the form of an affair. The two would sneak away together often, and in time, Diana learned what was going on. She overheard a phone conversation between them, and everything was downhill from there. The two separated in 1992, and their divorce was finalized in 1996. She leaned on her sons for love during the tough time.

She spent as much time with her kids as she could

When the news of the affair broke, Diana’s world crashed around her. Although she and Charles might not have had the best marriage, there is nothing as hard as hearing the person you’re married to has stepped out with someone else. Though William, who is two years older than Harry, was aware of what was going on, he did his best to keep it from his younger brother. During the couple’s divorce, Diana leaned on her children, who meant more to her than anyone else. The love they had for her helped her get through the tough situation.

When Diana passed away, the queen reportedly stayed with the boys for a week to let them grieve

Diana’s death brought extreme sadness to people all over the world, but nobody felt the brunt of it the way her children did. Harry and William had been staying with the queen when Diana’s fatal accident occurred, and when the queen learned of her passing, she reportedly had all radios and televisions removed from the home so the boys could grieve in peace. The queen took heat for not making an immediate announcement about Diana’s death, but she insisted she was spending time with her grandchildren to help them through everything.

Today, they have both admitted they still have a hard time dealing with her loss

William and Harry have never fully gotten over Diana’sdeath. Harry admitted in an interview with Newsweekthat her death sent him spiraling; as he got older, he lashed out; he partiedand made decisions that would normally never be approved of within the family.But he said that William helped bring him back down to earth, and he has sincelearned to use his role for good. The two will always hold the weight ofmissing their mother, but today, they honor her memory, as do their wives, inany way they can.
