Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are without a doubt one of our favorite royal couples, and we want nothing more than to see them happy. At the beginning of their relationship, the two of them were living in a modest, 2-bedroom home called Nottingham Cottage, located on the grounds of Kensington Palace, where they stayed until after they were officially married.
For months, it was expected that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would only be moving a short distance — taking up residence in apartment 1 of Kensington Palace, right next door to Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their family. Everyone was quite surprised when it was announced that instead, Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry would be leaving London altogether in favor of Windsor, England, where they became the new residents of Frogmore Cottage on the grounds of Windsor Castle.
While it is easy to assume that the royal couple would want to spend all of their time at the lavish, 10-bedroom home, sadly, that is not the case. So, what is the sad reason why Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry are desperately looking for a second home?
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry had quite a bad summer
Summer is usually a fun time for just about anyone, but unfortunately, it wasn’t for Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry. So, what happened?
According to Page Six, their public relations didn’t go well at all. Apparently, many people feel the Duchess of Sussex just can’t let go of her “celebrity” status and transition into her role as a member of the royal family. She has been the subject of some major criticism in recent months.
She and Prince Harry took some backlash when they flew by private jet more than a few times in the course of a week, despite their so-called concerns for the environment. Duchess Meghan also came under fire for refusing pictures when she attended Wimbledon, and she was criticized for her parenting skills when it came to Baby Archie.
In fact, things have gotten so out of hand that Prince Harry was forced to release a statement in defense of his wife.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are looking to escape the royal spotlight
Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry are a couple who really value their privacy. Glamour reports that the royal couple is feeling extremely stressed right now, and planning to take six weeks off from royal duties in order to concentrate on family time.
The royal couple will be spending Archie’s first Thanksgiving in Los Angeles with Markle’s mother — a first for any member of the royal family. The much-needed break comes at a perfect time for the duke and duchess, considering the pressure that they have been under recently.
It is not surprising that the drama has really taken its toll on Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry, who need some time to themselves.
The sad reason why Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are desperately looking for a second home
They may have just recently moved into Frogmore Cottage, but Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry are searching for a second home in another country. While this would usually be exciting news, this isn’t really the case.
Why are they looking for another place to live? According to People, it is because they want so much to get away from the intense media scrutiny, and they feel like their only solution to that problem is to leave the United Kingdom altogether. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex could possibly relocate to Canada, Africa, or even the United States in search of the quieter life that they deserve.
While we think it would be great for them to have a second home, we are sad that it is under these circumstances, and we wish Markle and Prince Harry the best.
