TESCO is selling massive boxes of 100 McVities Jaffa Cakes for £3 – but you'll need to be quick if you want to snap them up.
Normally Jaffa Cakes come in packets of ten and cost the cheapest at 50p from Tesco – that makes each biccy 5p.
But Tesco is selling mega boxes of Jaffa Cakes in some stores and in this deal each Jaffa Cake biscuit costs just 3p – that's 2p cheaper per snack.
It costs £2 less than buying 10 normal sized packets from the supermarket.
Tesco say it isn't stocking the mega boxes but one customer said they bought one from the St Rollox Tesco Extra store in Glasgow last week.
That means that the mega boxes aren't likely to be available nationwide and this particular store may have been selling them to get rid of old stock.
Here's how to cut the cost of your grocery shop
SAVING on your shop can make a big difference to your wallet. Here are some tips from Hannah Maundrell, editor of Money.co.uk, about how you can cut the cost of your shopping bills:
- Write yourself a list – Only buy items that you need. If it isn’t on your list, don’t put it in the trolley
- Create a budget – Work out a weekly budget for your food shopping
- Never shop hungry – you are far more likely to buy more food if your tummy is rumbling
- Don’t buy pre-chopped veggies or fruit – The extra they’ll charge for chopping can be eye watering
- Use social media – follow your favourite retailers to find out about the latest deals
- Be disloyal – You may want to go to different stores to find the best bargains
- Check the small print – It’s always worth checking the price per kg/lb/litre when comparing offers so you’re making a like for like decision as a bigger box won’t necessarily mean you get more
- Use your loyalty cards – Don’t be afraid to sign up to them all. They all work slightly differently – work out what bonus suits you better and remember to trade in your points for additional rewards
Supplies could be limited so shoppers will have to act fast to get their hands on the deal.
It might also be worth calling up your local Tesco before heading out to check if it has them in store.
The Tesco shopper who snapped them up posted her bargain on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group, where so far the post has attracted 1,300 likes and 1,400 comments.
It's not the first time Tesco has stocked the mega boxes – this time last year it sold a limited run of boxes for £1.
Home Bargains sold them earlier this year for £4, while they've previously been spotted at Iceland for the same price.
The only other retailers that are currently selling them is JTF where they cost £3.99 online and Amazon where they cost £10.99.
Earlier this year, Brits kicked off after Jaffa Cake was named one of the top five biscuits even though they're legally registered as cakes.
Last Christmas, McVitie's shrunk the "yard" of Jaffa Cakes boxes but kept the price the same.
