In tonight’s episode of the E4 show, Debbie, from Glasgow, explains how she wants a new design to help put a traumatic event behind her – she was in a car accident where the car flipped and she was thrown from the windscreen.

Debbie goes on to explain how she spent four months in hospital before having follow on reconstructive surgeries once she was out – and it was at one of those reconstructive appointments that she found out she was pregnant with her daughter, who she refers to as her ‘miracle’ child.

‘I’m here for a new tattoo,’ explains Debbie, as she arrives at the ink studio. ‘I went through quite a traumatic experience so I’m just looking for something to symbolise coming through that, drawing a line and moving on.’

In 2009, the mother-of-one says ‘life was good’ after she had finally passed her driving test after seven times.

‘I had a silver MG, a beautiful car, but then everything changed,’ explains Debbie. ‘It was a Friday morning and I woke up late for work. I decided to take a detour from my usual route, driving along the road and next thing the car started skidding.’

‘I remember being thrown through the windscreen and then must’ve passed out. I had broken four of my vertebrae, had to lie flat on a bed for three or fourth months. I had no eyelid at all.’

Debbie says it was only when she had to go back to the hospital for yet another reconstructive surgery that things changed – as she found out she was expecting. Pictured, the ‘mangled’ car after the accident

She continues: ‘My teeth were cracked. My whole world came crashing down. I was let out of hospital four months after the accident. Life was bleak. I was in pain and was back in hospital for yet another reconstructive surgery.’

However, it was at that moment that Debbie found out she was expecting.

‘It actually felt like a flick had been switched,’ she says. ‘I went from feeling so down and depressed to feeling so special and so happy. My wee miracle baby – she really did save my life.’

Debbie visit the tattoo parlour in a bid to get ink to show the strength she’s gained from the things she’s been through.

Getting her phone out, Debbie shows the ink artists accident pictures of her flipped ‘mangled’ car, before showing a rather gruesome image of her injuries.

The ink artists (pictured) were all left in shock after Debbie detailed her story, before revealing her injury photos

‘They call it de-gloving,’ she explains, sharing the picture of her head, which shows the skin ripped back from her head, revealing her skull.

Living to tell the tale, the mother-of-one explains: ‘People used to say the angels were looking down on me when I had the accident because I survived, so something along those lines.’

And come the end of the programme, Debbie, delighted with the new tattoo on her forearm, enthuses: ‘Oh my goodness. I’m lost for words. She is just beautiful. She’s perfect.’

‘I’m blown away. She’s absolutely gorgeous. It makes me feel very special and now it;s a time to draw a line and move on – and this is just the perfect ending,’
