SHOPPERS are rushing to buy a Argos household gadget that will keep you warm with no need to turn the heating on.

The cost of energy has soared in recent months and households are looking for ways to save money.

Many are turning to the "heat the human not the home" motto hailed by consumer champion Martin Lewis.

Argos is selling a Dreamland electric throw for just £60.

It's a fleece material so can be used as a blanket or throw.

It comes with six heat settings and a timer that allows you to keep it on one, three or nine hours.

After the time you've set it to has been reached it will automatically turn off.

One happy shopper said: "Keeps me warm, very soft and allows me to turn the heating off."

Another wrote: "I bought one for myself, in order to 'heat the person not the room', and it is brilliant.

"I can turn the heating off in the evening and I'm totally warm."

The retail giant claims the blankets costs from as little as 1p per hour (probably based on having it on the lowest setting) to run so will definitely help you to slash bills if you're currently relying on the heating to keep warm.

But based on the current energy price cap and using its 150 watt power, the blanket will cost 5p an hour to run.

So if you have it on overnight, eight hours of heat will cost you 40p.

In comparison, leaving the heating on all night could cost you around £22.08 though this depends on the size and insulation of your house.

The item is currently in stock online but do check it's available at your local Argos first.

This isn't the only electric blanket shoppers can get their hands on right now.

It's always worth shopping around for the best deals as we may have missed something.

B&Q is also selling a similar product for £49.49.

The Livivo electric blanket comes with 10 heat settings and nine timer settings.

The retail giant claims the blankets costs from as little as 1p per hour to run but we don't know what the watt power is on this item.

So bear in mind that it could cost more to run than the Argos one.

Of course, all appliances, including electric blankets, have different wattage.

So you should check before buying a product how much it might cost you per hour.

You can use the formula above to work out how much it will cost you.

For example, if you bought a 100 watt electric blanket, to work out how much it costs, you would take 34, divide it by 1,000 and then multiply that figure by 100, instead of 60.

So it would cost you 3.4p an hour to run.

This electric throw isn't the only item shoppers have been raving about.

Just last month, Lidl customers were rushing to get their hands on its Silvercrest £23 blanket that costs just 2p an hour to run and can slash bills.
