Seek co-founder Paul Bassat has listed his stunning Mornington Peninsula retreat, with price hopes between $10 million and $11 million.
The country residence at 72 Donaldsons Road in Red Hill comes with dual drawcards: established gardens by renowned landscape architect Paul Bangay and a productive vineyard.
Set at the end of a quiet lane on about eight hectares of land, the seven-bedroom home offers knockout views of the estate.
Peninsula Sotheby’s International Realty selling agent Rob Curtain said the mature gardens were a point of difference, including box hedging that frames the swimming pool, as well as plane trees and bay trees.

Curtain often sells homes with Paul Bangay gardens, but said this one has had the advantage of time to mature.
“You can spend a lot of money on a garden at the start,” he said.
“But it takes time. And no matter how much money you have got, you can’t buy time when it comes to nature.
“This is one of those great properties where the Bangay garden has done its thing as it got older.”
It includes a vineyard managed by Sam Coverdale of neighbouring Polperro Winery, which means the residence is classed as primary production land and land tax is not applicable, Curtain said.
There is a tennis court, spa, olive grove, orchard, vegetable garden, pizza oven, barbecue, chef’s kitchen and study.
The house was renovated 12 years ago. Oversized windows offer views of the vineyard.

Curtain said the Bassat family was selling as they are building a new home nearby, and are open to a long settlement if the purchaser requested.
He said the market in this area now has more homes for sale, which is giving buyers more choice and lengthening the time it takes to sell. But he added that an auction this week for another property attracted three buyers and was competitive.
“I don’t think this one will be on the market a long time,” Curtain said.
