Say cheese, because there’s going to be a whole lot of it on your tables this Christmas, courtesy of the cheese advent calendar which will return for another year running.
The cracker comes from the same company that creates the famed cheese advent calendar, and whilst advent calendars are definitely moving in a more revolutionary direction, from Whittard’s warming hot chocolate offering to the Boutique-y Gin Company’s bid to let the good times be-gin each day, the cheese advent calendar has been a firm favourite since food blogger Annem Hobson created it in 2016.
So, hopes are high for their next cheesy creation and, to be honest, we think it’s pretty cracking.
The cheese advent calendars will be returning and bringing the new Christmas crackers with them.
The crackers will be stocked in Sainsbury’s, available to purchase for £3, making the perfect alternative to normal crackers any day.
It’s so good in fact that Emma Garvey, Cheese Buyer for Sainsbury’s, said to Cosmopolitan: “We’re excited to be introducing the Cheese Cracker this year, to cater to cheese aficionados nationwide.
“The cracker makes for the perfect addition to a festive feast and we can’t wait to hear the response from our customers.”
And the cracker doesn’t disappoint on the cheesing front.
Housed inside, you’ll find two flavours of cheese – creamy Ilchester Cheddar Cheese made in the West Country, and another stick of Ilchester Red Leicester Cheese, known for its smooth and nutty taste, and its suitable for vegetarians – bonus!

And that’s not all.
To accompany the cheeses you’ll get five mini oatcakes and an adorable jar of tangy Tiptoe Tomato Chutney and, in keeping to the theme of Christmas, there’ll be a party hat in a popping colour and a cheesy joke, quite literally.
Food blogger Annem Hobson who created the calendar under her So Wrong It’s Nom brand told The Sun: “Thousands of people have supported my #CheeseNotChoc campaign, and I’m so proud of how far the cheese advent calendar has come.
“Not only are we adding more cheeses this year, but I’m finally unveiling my latest invention: the cheese cracker!”
This year, things are hotting up on the cheese calendar front too with the addition of a Mexicana cheese to get the taste buds tingling.
So, it appears gone are the days that measuring tapes and plastic rulers come out of your crackers, but let’s face it, you’d never use them anyway. The cheese Christmas cracker will hit shops in November and it’s going to be absolutely brie-lliant…
