DEAR DEIDRE: MY partner says he wouldn’t mind if I had sex with someone else but is that true?
I’m a woman of 41 and my partner is 60. He had a heart attack 12 years ago and ended up having stents fitted. He then had a stroke, not a bad one, but we haven’t been able to have sex since.
It hasn’t really bothered me but he feels sorry for me. Sex toys just don’t interest me, so he told me to find someone else to have sex with.
He said he wouldn’t mind but deep down I think he would. It would be nice to do it at least once. What should I do?

DEIDRE SAYS: Do not go there. Your husband may be trying to be selfless but it sounds as if he’s scared to have sex.
Sexual problems are very common in men who have had heart attacks and strokes, and can be a side-effect of the medication. He should talk to his GP.
You can find further information on sex and heart conditions on the British Heart Foundation’s website (bhf.org.uk).
