A mum who was told more than 10 times to abort her baby is set to celebrate Christmas at home with her beautiful daughter.

Chloe Conlin, 21, was warned Miyah was unlikely to survive a year after scans showed she had only half a heart.

But the young mum refused to give up on her daughter, who had heart surgery last Christmas Eve.

Miyah, now aged 14 months, is happy and thriving at home, and took her first steps unaided earlier this month.

Chloe said: “When I was pregnant, they told me to have an abortion over 10 times because they said she wouldn’t be compatible with life, it would be a real struggle and she probably wouldn’t live until her first birthday.

“They told me she wouldn’t be reaching her milestones.

“She’s doing really well at the moment, she started walking.

“She says ‘Mum’ and ‘Dad’, and she shakes her head ‘No’, she says ‘Ta’. She’s learning a lot more…”

Chloe, of Norwich, was told about Miyah’s health problems when she was just 20 weeks’ pregnant. But she ignored the advice and went ahead with the pregnancy.

Miyah was born with a rare heart defect called right atrial isomerism.

She was delivered at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital Trust and had her open-heart surgery at London’s Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Chloe added: “She hasn’t had any major hospital admissions since then.

“She’s been doing really well.”

While Miyah was having surgery at GOSH, Chloe was helped by the Sick Children’s Trust, which provided temporary accommodation.

CEO Jane Featherstone said: “Hundreds of children across the country will be in hospital, and every one of them should be with their family at Christmas.”
