A mother-of-two tragically found dead in her home after a 'domestic incident' has been pictured for the first time.

The body of Regan Tierney was discovered in a semi-detached home in Walkden, Salford early yesterday morning, prompting a murder investigation.

A man in his thirties has been transported to hospital and remains in a critical condition.

Police have not yet confirmed the identity of the woman, who is in her twenties, or whether they are hunting for anyone else.

One 66-year-old neighbour, who did not wish to be named, said: "It was just when I was going to bed at about 2am that all the sirens came.

"When I looked out they had blocked the road off.

"There was police cars and everything all the way down the road.

"I saw then bringing someone out on a stretcher but I couldn't see who it was as it was dark."

The pensioner added that Regan had lived in the house for five years.

Officers carrying out investigations remained at the scene throughout Wednesday evening.

Detective Chief Inspector Chris Packer, of GMP's Salford district, said: "This is an incredibly tragic incident in which a young woman has lost her life.

"We are doing all we can to support her family at this unimaginably difficult time.

"We have a team of specialist officers at the scene carrying out investigative work and the scene will remain in place throughout the day.

"If you have any information, no matter how small or insignificant it might seem, please get in touch as a matter of urgency to help us piece together the circumstances surrounding this."
