Each year, members of the Royal Family will spend time with the Queen at her Sandringham Estate in Norfolk.

Meghan joined them for the first time two years ago just months after announcing her engagement to Prince Harry.

In 2018, Meghan and Harry once again spent time with the royals during the festive period.

This year, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will celebrate their first Christmas as a family with Archie Harrison, seven months.

After spending the last two years with her in-laws, it has been confirmed Meghan will be with her mother, Doria Ragland, 63, this year.

A statement from the palace read: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are looking forward to extended family time towards the end of this month.

“Having spent the last two Christmases at Sandringham, Their Royal Highnesses will spend the holiday this year, as a new family, with the Duchess’ mother Doria Ragland.

“This decision is in line with precedent set previously by other members of the Royal Family, and has the support of Her Majesty The Queen.”

Although they will spend time with Meghan’s mother, it has not been confirmed whether they will travel to Los Angeles – where Doria lives – or if she will visit them.

This is Archie’s first Christmas but royal fans hoping to catch a glimpse of the royal baby will probably be left disappointed.

Royals are often snapped going to church on the 25th but Meghan and Harry won’t be making an appearance.

As the family are skipping out on royal celebrations, Archie’s first Christmas is likely to be a quiet affair.

In the past, Kate Middleton and Prince William, both 37, have also chosen to give their children a modest family Christmas.

They have previously taken a step back from the limelight to spend the day with Kate’s parents, who live in Berkshire.

Even when Kate and William visit the Queen, it is believed the royal children still spend the night at their own residence of Anmer Hall, which is nearby.

Although Archie will not see the royals on Christmas day, it is likely he will have a festive catch-up with them beforehand.

Members of the Royal Family are thought to not spend a lot of money on each other’s presents.

Instead, they will exchange joke gifts that are shared on Christmas Eve.

However, as it is Archie’s first Christmas, he is sure to wake up to lots of presents.
